TyRex’s 2023 in Numbers
Amit Pal2024-09-30T19:30:45+00:00With 2023 nearly in the rearview, we thought we would look back on the areas where the TyRex Family of companies has grown the most. Some of that growth has been in exciting new areas of exploration, while others are continuations of our legacy programs we hold most dear.
TyRex is entering its 30th year in business, and we’re proud that 2023 was our 27th profitable year out of 29. We launched a unique partnership with Rice University this year, leveraging both our expertise in additive manufacturing and our decades of experience in enterprise-level production to help push the next-generation military helmet to market. Our quality scores are as high as they’ve ever been, and we’ve seen tangible success this year in bridging the gap between present-day excellence in advanced manufacturing and looking forward to “what’s next” at every turn.
TyRex has been a “built to last” company from the very beginning, and more than ever we are focused on the right type of business for our sustainability. Our company grows in depth of knowledge and experience by default every day, but we force the issue a bit by constantly beating the drum – from the C-suite to our production technicians – that manufacturing is evolving and we must evolve with it. Through partnerships and collaboration TyRex continues to evolve and grow in reach and scope without overextending our resources for the sake of a few more dollars in profit.
Our manufacturing facility is hands-on and truly tour-able, so we use our factory as our most valuable asset to show off manufacturing very regularly. Often that’s with C-suite executives from OEM customers, but this year specifically we made a huge push for student tours and engagement – through hosting 27 high school level interns over the summer (that’s a lot for a company with a headcount around 150!), providing student mentorship, volunteering expertise in classroom presentations, and lots of student group tours we’ve made 2023 quite memorable in regard to raising awareness about the manufacturing industry. This year alone we’ve toured half a dozen extracurricular robotics clubs, at least 3-4 Skillpoint Alliance student cohorts, plenty of one-off college students, and we even hosted about 200 third-graders from Whitestone Elementary in one day!
TyRex Business
- Officially announced our partnership with Rice University and Carbon
- Launched Woolly Mammoth 3D as a new TyRex company
- Issued over 140 individual 3D printing certificates to employees, interns
and guests - Profitable for our 27th year out of 29 years in business and look forward to
beginning our 30th year in 2024
TyRex + Students
- Hosted 16 student tours, including one group of over 150 3rd graders from
Whitestone Elementary - Hosted 27 summer interns, up from just 4 the previous summer
- Donated our expertise to Skillpoint Alliance students through 3D printing
training on multiple occasions and TyRex was recognized as that
organization’s volunteer of the year
TyRex + Charity
- Sponsored t-shirts for the ROCK Rodeo, shopped for school supplies for
Title I students, sponsored the Austin Regional Science Fair, and
contributed to MARC, Safe Alliance and Florence’s Comfort House
2023 RecognizeGood Legends
- Gave away almost $30,000 to area nonprofits through this program in
2023, bringing our total since 2010 to over $350,000 and 126
recognitions presented - Recognized 11 incredible volunteers, including 2 couples, who served our
community through everything from art projects with the homeless to
distributing half a million pounds of food to those in need.
2023 RecognizeGood Lighthouses
- Recognized 8 community organizations and donated $8,000, bringing our
total through this program to $27,000 donated and 36 recognitions
presented since 2014
2023 Ethics in Business Awards
- Recognized 4 honorees for ethics in 2023, bringing our total to 98
honorees over 11 years - Donated another $20,000 to Concordia University’s scholarship fund,
bringing our total since 2012 to $240,000 donated
